Our Story

Savage Family Healthcare began with a simple question: What if families in and around Kitzmiller could get excellent primary care without driving an hour or more?

Miranda Savage, FNP-BC, a board-certified nurse practitioner and disabled veteran, saw the need firsthand. Together with her husband Jay, she purchased an old local gas station and spent months transforming it into a warm, welcoming clinic built for real people, not just patient numbers.

From the first coat of paint to the last exam room cabinet, this space was built by many hands and even bigger hearts. Today, Savage Family Healthcare is proud to offer full-spectrum primary care, walk-in and same-day visits, lab services, DOT physicals, and aesthetic services right here in Kitzmiller.

Our team is made up of compassionate, skilled professionals who are dedicated to providing exceptional care with a personal touch. Each member of our staff brings unique experience, heart, and commitment to the people of Kitzmiller and the surrounding communities.


  • Founder & Chief Clinical Officer

    Miranda Savage is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and disabled U.S. Army veteran with more than a decade of clinical experience caring for patients across rural communities. After witnessing firsthand the challenges local families faced in accessing dependable, high-quality healthcare, she felt called to create something better for her hometown.

    With deep roots in Kitzmiller and a passion for patient-centered care, Miranda led the transformation of an old gas station into a warm, welcoming clinic built for real people — not just patient numbers. She is dedicated to full-spectrum primary care, preventive medicine, chronic disease management, women’s health, and empowering patients through honest, compassionate guidance.

    Miranda brings a blend of clinical expertise, rural grit, and genuine heart to every visit, ensuring that Savage Family Healthcare remains a place where community and quality care come together.


  • Nurse Practitioner

    Amanda is an experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. My practice is grounded in comprehensive primary care principles, complemented by specialized clinical expertise in two critical areas:

    Advanced Wound Care: I possess additional expertise in managing complex and chronic wounds, focusing on advanced treatment modalities, promoting optimal healing, and preventing complications.

    Geriatric Population Health: I excel in providing holistic care for the geriatric population, including managing multiple comorbidities, promoting healthy aging, and aiding in supportive and palliative care strategies.

    I am committed to collaborative practice and leveraging my specialized knowledge to improve patient outcomes and quality of life across the continuum of care.

     

    Outside of work, I’m happiest camping, spending time outdoors, and hanging out with my friends and loved ones. Those moments help keep me grounded and remind me why I love what I do—caring for people and helping them live healthier, fuller lives.


  • Nurse Administrator

    Sarah is a registered nurse with 14 years of experience, known for her warm demeanor, attention to detail, and unwavering dedication to providing exceptional care. Born and raised in Oakland, Maryland, she brings her small-town values of compassion, community, and authenticity into every aspect of her work.

     

    In addition to her clinical background, Sarah serves as the Nurse Administrator for Savage Family Healthcare, where she helps guide patient care with a focus on quality, communication, and compassion.

     

    Outside of nursing, she enjoys a fulfilling life with her husband, their two daughters, and their two energetic puppies. She loves going to the beach, painting, and spending quality time with her family. Her commitment to both her loved ones and her patients reflects her genuine passion for helping others and creating positive, meaningful connections wherever she goes.


  • Biller/Coder

    Tiffany is an experienced healthcare professional with over a decade of expertise in respiratory therapy and is now a certified billing and coding specialist. She’s passionate about helping others, staying active, and continually improving her skills. Outside of work, she enjoys playing with her 2 little boys, fitness, learning new things, and tackling creative projects.


  • Co-Founder / Managing Partner

    Jay Savage is the Managing Partner of Savage Family Healthcare, where he directs all business, operational, and strategic functions of the clinic. He oversees financial management, regulatory compliance, payroll and accounting systems, purchasing, IT infrastructure, and long-term planning—ensuring the clinic operates with the structure and efficiency of a well-run business.

    From the earliest stages of development, Jay played a driving role in bringing the clinic to life. He coordinated the renovation of the facility, managed licensing and insurance requirements, built the administrative and technology systems, and established the processes that support day-to-day operations. His focus on organization, accountability, and sustainable growth continues to shape the clinic’s success.

    Jay is known for his disciplined leadership style and ability to translate complex challenges into clear, actionable plans. Whether implementing new business systems, managing staffing needs, or guiding capital improvements, he brings a steady, strategic approach to every aspect of Savage Family Healthcare.
